Primarily a dirt oval track racing facility, the track was temporarily redesigned to accommodate the stars of the World Series of Off-Road Racing. Friday night Ben and Team Wandahsega was feeling very confident with the new parts installed on the truck after the Bark River race. Specifically, a Tube Works differential housing was installed to eliminate any chance of another wheel stud failure. When the flag dropped, the Forest County Potawatomi Toyo Chevy went charging to the front. Ben took the lead on lap 2 until Dan Baudoux and Keith Steele were both able to get by after the handling of Wandahsega's truck went away. Ben was happy to finish in the top 3 as he and the team are really focusing on being consistent in the remaining rounds. Click here to read more Bark River Photos... Mike Vanden Heuvel scored double victories in the packed 26-car 1600 Light Buggy class during Saturday’s Round V and Sunday’s Round VI of the 2008 World Series of Off-Road Racing® (WSORR) championship series. Vanden Heuvel provided a “lesson on driving” as he now has a commanding lead in the 1600 Light Buggy points championship. “My Toyo tires worked great for me,” said Vanden Heuvel. “They seem to go to the front in any condition on any track.” Also winning Saturday’s SRT Super Truck race was Ben Wandahsega driving his Forest County Potawatomi/Toyo Tires® Chevy Silverado on 35X12.50R17 D.O.T. Open Country M/T® tires. The returning champion is currently third in the overall standings, continuing to demonstrate his ability to win with Toyo. Wandahsega Dominant at Bark River; Misfortunes Prevent a Clean Sweep of Weekend...July 19th, 2008 By Dave Miller World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) Rounds V & VI The Island Resort and Casino, Boss Snowplows Off-Road Challenge Bark River International Raceway Bark River, MI July 11th, 12th & 13th, 2008 Saturday Round V For Saturday's race Crew Chief Mark Wirhanowicz was a little nervous about the changes the team made to the truck after the Crandon race, they replaced the 2 radiators with one big one then also put another fresh Wegner motor in. As Ben came to the starting line he was feeling confident about the new parts, after having a good practice run the day before. Ben and his Forest County Potawatomi Toyo Tires Chevy definitely showed in Crandon that Team Wandahsega has improved their big track performance, so Ben was looking very forward to running fast at his home track. When the flag dropped the Wegner motor pulled hard off the line, when he hit 3rd gear in the ATD transmission is when the truck really took off. Ben came out of the first turn in 2nd place behind Don Williams. After a lap and a half of eating Williams dirt, he pulled off the track. Then it was Ben's turn to throw some dirt around. From that point on Wandahsega hit his marks just right and never looked back. Taking down the "Rocket Man" Dan Baudoux and Keith Steele in the Monster truck and finishing 1st moved Wandahsega up to 2nd place, 4 points out of 1st in the points. Again the team proved that they are a major contender on the big tracks. As part of the Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run held at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin, Probst was on fire during the weekend. He also finished second during Sunday’s Round IV to move into a tie to lead the Pro 2WD class championship. Click here to read more Crandon Photos... Ben Wandahsega Wins During 2008 WSORR Season Opener Weekend on Toyo® Open Country M/T® Tires WHEATLAND, MISSOURI – Team Toyo® Off-Road driver, Ben Wandahsega, piloted his Forest County Potawatomi/Toyo Tires® Chevy Silverado to an SRT Super Truck class win this past Sunday during the season opening weekend of the World Series of Off-Road Racing® (WSORR). The E3 Sparkplugs “Show-Me State Showdown” presented by Dixie Choppers was held at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Due to intense rains caused by a massive storm, the only full “Round 1” race held on Saturday was the SRT Super Truck class. Visibility was the worst ever experienced by Wandahsega, as he struggled to see the race course before driving into a light pole. Sunday was a different story as the clay track was in great shape and the returning WSORR champion won the second round of the SRT Super Truck class on his 35X12.50R17 D.O.T. Open Country M/T® tires. As luck would have it, Ben’s race was the first scheduled race on Saturday evening. He and his Forest County Potawatomi Toyo Tires Chevy started in the back. When the mud started flying, on his way to the first corner he lost all of his tearoffs. He lost a lap early in the event and never really recovered. The team had to settle for a fourth place finish. Round I Results: Dan Baudoux, Ross Hoek, Keith Steele, Ben Wandahsega Sunday went much better for Ben Wandahsega and Team Wandahsega as the track was almost perfect. Ben started on the front row and at the start the Toyo Tires MT’s hooked up as Ben led every lap and never looked back. Saturday’s winner Dan Baudoux finished second but had nothing for the Forest County Potawatomi truck as Ben continued to pull away from Baudoux until the checkers came out.
Crandon Test Photos...
Our recent testing at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway went well for us. Overall we felt like our performance on the track was very good, although we do however plan to make a couple changes for the spring Crandon race to fine tune our program. With that out of the way we are looking very forward to getting the new season started at Wheatland on May 31st-June 1st with a good performance.
